What is the Deuce Project?

The Deuce Project is a program that has been running on 89.1fm in Kalamazoo for about 10 years. We play music that contains references to sci-fi, science, mathematics, or anything in that vein. The songs' connection can be via the lyrics, band name, song name, album name, or sometimes just the general aesthetic of the song. Please enjoy. [Banner Image: 1947 by Aurorabomb]

World Domination Xmas Mix 2009

World Domination Xmas Mix 2009 [Download Link]

-----
Greetings everyone. This is NOT the actual holiday special that aired last week. That episode will be coming soon, though unfortunately it likely won't be up before Christmas.

I wanted something to be posted though, so I put together this mix. This includes almost all of the holiday-related music I played on the Xmas show only as individual mp3s.

Before downloading the fun, please take some time to check out all my sources for this album. A special thanks goes out to the Franklin Mint Blog as he had some of the hardest to find space-related xmas stuff in his excellent compilations [Go get them right now and comment to show some love].

Tracks grabbed from The Franklin Mint:
Bobby Helms - Santa Claus and his Reindeer Space Patrol
Lawrence Welk's Little Band - Outer Space Santa
[Update: I forgot to include this tune in the mix...so go to Franklin Mint to find this one :) ]

Track grabbed from WFMU's 365 Days Project:
Troy Hess - Christmas on the Moon

Big thanks to the contributors to the forums over at http://www.falalalala.com/ [The archived forums gave me some good ideas]

While it is everywhere in the blogosphere, I believe I found Meco's classic Star-Wars "Christmas in the Stars" at the Wonderful Wonderblog

The Gulag Picture Radio track appears on the free compilation Interplanetary Materials available at Comfort Stand Recordings.

I'm sure I've forgotten some sources (a lot of these tracks were grabbed years ago), but there you go. Go visit these sites, show some love, download this comp and enjoy!

Man, You Drum Like A Machine! Machine, You Drum Like A Man!

Man, You Drum Like a Machine! Machine, You Drum Like a Man! [Includes a tribute to Jerry Fuchs]
Original Air Date: November 14, 2009
Episode Duration: 2h 1m 28s

In this episode we have a tribute to the great drummer Jerry Fuchs. Fuchs played for a number of bands, many of which we've featured on the show. Tragically, Fuchs passed on November 8th. Many know Fuchs as the drummer for the phenomenal bandMaserati, but during his career he also drummed for The Martians, Turing Machine, !!!, and the Juan Maclean. I hope if you weren't already a fan, this set will open your ears to some amazing music.

We also feature a couple of tracks from Piero Umilianni. We've played him before on the show, but recently the wonderful blog The Library Hunt unearthed a treasure trove of Umilianni that is well worth your attention. The Library Hunt is a great site for fans of classic synthesizer music. Not to be missed.

Lastly, this episode also features some of our favorite songs played by machines, or to steal a phrase from Music for Maniacs, mechanical music:

*Note: The album art includes a photo of the Cybraphon's emotion gauge and the drums fitted with robotic parts are a section of one of Felix's Machines.
