What is the Deuce Project?

The Deuce Project is a program that has been running on 89.1fm in Kalamazoo for about 10 years. We play music that contains references to sci-fi, science, mathematics, or anything in that vein. The songs' connection can be via the lyrics, band name, song name, album name, or sometimes just the general aesthetic of the song. Please enjoy. [Banner Image: 1947 by Aurorabomb]

Tenth Anniversary Special

Here is the "10th" Anniversary special of the Deuce Project. Note that 10th is in quotations. The fact of the matter is that I truly cannot remember when the Deuce Project first aired on WIDR. I have old recordings that date back to 1999, but it is entirely possible that the show is a year (or maybe two?) older than that.

Unbeknownst to any of you that know the show only through podcasts, or only through the last few years, the show has had quite a few generations of hosts. Heck, we were even cancelled once because a higher up didn't "get" the show.

While I have always been around, I've had the amazing opportunity to share the airwaves with a variety of co-hosts, each leaving a notable mark on how the show sounds today.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all of the following, without whom the show would not exist today:

Sensor-72

Space Siren

R-Vector 9

J-Station

Before getting into the play list, I have to give props to the following sites where I did get turned on to some of the tracks below:

First up *gasp* Music for Maniacs. The "Madam Dracula" track came from the Zombie Jamboree mix posted over there. Definitely worth a listen.

Next, the immortal Funky 16 Corners is to thank for the Souls Unlimited track "Raving Vampire pt. 1" If you dig good soul music, look no further.

Also, the always entertaining Probe is Turning-On the People is to thank for Hey Leroy (Creature from the Black Lagoon), though I cannot remember just WHICH session it is on the site. You might as well go and scour them all I guess...

Also, while I'm not certain I pulled anything from there for this mix, Rock Is Dead R.I.P. has had some of the best Halloween mixes around for the past month. You owe it to yourself to regularly check this site out if you enjoy surf guitar or anything reverb related.

And now the show!
