What is the Deuce Project?

The Deuce Project is a program that has been running on 89.1fm in Kalamazoo for about 10 years. We play music that contains references to sci-fi, science, mathematics, or anything in that vein. The songs' connection can be via the lyrics, band name, song name, album name, or sometimes just the general aesthetic of the song. Please enjoy. [Banner Image: 1947 by Aurorabomb]

New Year: New Logo

The stylish logo found on the right is courtesy of John Martin III. Besides making logos for his future alien overlords, he also has a web presence at http://johndmartiniii.com/blog/ where he is now blogging about his life in Egypt.

That New Year's mix...might happen in 2008. Drexzor-9 accidentally set the console on fire when he set an effigy of a human ablaze for his "New Year's" celebration. Apparently he came up with the idea when he was on monitor duty and came across images of your "Burning Man" festival. You really have no one to blame but yourselves you silly little flesh-sacks.

Be safe in your celebrations tonight. We need live specimens for our research.

No Show December 29th

Deuce Project Station is going to be out of range on December 29th, so we are unable to link-up with the J-Unit sleeper droid we have planted in Kalamazoo, MI. Drexzor-9 wishes you all a happy New Year though. The rest of us are incapable of empathy, hence your emotions really mean little to us. However, in order to win your acceptance of our eventual rule over your planet, we may put out a special web-only New Year's mix in the next few days.

The Swayziest Christmas Ever

Fans of MST3K might remember this Roadhouse themed tune. This is a taste of what is to come from the Deuce Project World Domination Christmas Special that airs today. Oh...there will also be some tunes from a long forgotten Christmas "classic" that involves a certain galaxy far far away...and after hearing these songs, you will wish it still was. Curious? Listen tonight or download the podcast tomorrow.

Captured by Robots!

CBR Cartoon

Once upon a time, Jbot played for influential 3rd wave ska bands such as The Blue Meanies and Skankin Pickle. Nowadays, he has been captured by robotic rock musicians who love to torture him on-stage for the amusement of audiences across the galaxy.

Captured! by Robots is a one man band of a different sort. The one human in the group built an entire band that plays everything from horns (The Headless Hornmen), to guitar and drums. The music has a pretty straight-forward punk/metal sound to it (for the most part) and is pretty enjoyable. The sheer ingenuity of the project is worth a look. You can download free tracks and check out actual band photos at the site below:

In the year 30xx you will all have robot butlers to do your bidding. The following radio program will ready your brain for the power you will wield. You can thank us later.

Also, ignore the hosts babbling about how you heard the Violent Femmes song twice. That does not happen in the web edition, you lucky wastes of organic material.

Fabztravaganza! (Podcast finally posted!)

We at Deuce Project Station apologize for the lack of podcasts. Things up here have been crazy. There was the space plague that we finally overcame and then we were hit with our quarterly reports involving the quantum fluctuations in our designated area of space-time. Drexzor 9s parapersonality programing went haywire and he was convinced he was a flapper from your planet's history and it took us 4 days to find the corrupted line of coding and get him back to work. Well, all of that is over now and this weekend will bring with it a double-dose of podcast goodness.

The first offering is the fabled Fabztravaganza! episode that aired two weeks ago. Mr. Fab from the oft-mentioned site Music for Maniacs was kind enough to provide the Deuce Project with a 30 minute sci-fi mix. The mix itself is included at the conclusion of the show. However, there are fun treats from RIAA and Mr. Fab littered throughout. So without further ado...enter the Fabztravaganza!

Next Sunday A.D.

Greetings Earth People,

In your distant past - the mid 1990's - the fortunate ones saw a disturbing vision of the future in the form of a Satellite of Love.

Now it is the distant future - 2007! Prepare yourselves for a wonderful catastrophe in the form of...Cinematic Titanic!

Fabztravaganza!

The Fabztravaganza is on its way. A space plague has infected Deuce Project Station and is currently keeping us from interfacing with the bioquantum interface we use to upload the signal. However, the below is the playlist for the show which will be posted sometime soon this week.

This is a special edition of The Deuce Project. The first hour and a half is the typical broadcast. However, the last half hour features a special space mix done by none other than Mr. Fab from over at http://musicformaniacs.blogspot.com

Enjoy!
