What is the Deuce Project?

The Deuce Project is a program that has been running on 89.1fm in Kalamazoo for about 10 years. We play music that contains references to sci-fi, science, mathematics, or anything in that vein. The songs' connection can be via the lyrics, band name, song name, album name, or sometimes just the general aesthetic of the song. Please enjoy. [Banner Image: 1947 by Aurorabomb]

Polysics and Strong Machine 2 live video

A while back the Deuce Project was presented with the phenomenal talent of Strong Machine 2, as witnessed in The Polysics video for "I, Me, My, Mine". Here is the same track, live, with Strong Machine 2 dancing on-stage. Strong Machine 2 is actually one of the project's former agents. We believed her to have gone rogue, however, thanks to these surveillance tapes we see her mission on your pathetic planet is going according to plan. Enjoy it while you can earthlings. You will have to settle for a youtube video since your internet has not yet evolved into holographic imaging.

September 29th Show: Dropping Bombs of Love

I'm hosting this one at megaupload. That means instead of being in two parts, the entire broadcast is available in one download. I will split it into two for mediafire later this week. For now though:

Deuce Project - September 29 -Megaupload

A playlist will also be posted later this week. But for a, roughly correct, version check out the live playlist at www.widr.org and go to September 29 starting at 5 p.m. .

(This is the first time I've done a megaupload link. Please post comments letting me know if you have any problems. Or e-mail at thedeuceproject@gmail.com )

Finally....Deuce Project September 22

I seem to have worked things out. Without further ado, Sept. 22nd's Deuce Project, wherein the host fumbles his words and has a couple of odd stop sets. Oh...and there is a lot of fun music.

Uploading Problems

Hey everyone. Sorry that the new episode is not up yet. The upload gets to be about 1% away from being complete, and then the connection keeps resetting. I will try again tomorrow.

Podcast Delay

This week's episode is running a little late. I should have it up sometime tonight. Sorry if this has torn anyone's soul asunder with anticipation. I'm not going to lie though...Halo 3 comes out tonight, and I may be posting very late.

Dr. Octagon: Aliens (the video)

No Podcast This Week...Instead A Bit On Joe Meek

Joe Meek

Joe Meek was a fantastic English record producer and songwriter. His most widely recognizable contribution to the musical landscape is the song "Telstar" by the Tornados (sometimes this hit is hailed as the first shot in the British invasion, though this is highly debatable), and covered (or sometimes just ripped off) by many others. I came across Meek while scouring for music for the show and was immediately captivated by the man's story. Telstar speaks to his ability as a producer, but that isn't all there was to Joe. He was obsessed with electronics, the occult, aliens, and the ghost of Buddy Holly. Joe's more unusual side came out on his album "I Hear New Worlds," a concept-album very dear to the heart of this show. Rather than simply rehashing what is out there, I am going to provide you all with some links if you find this man as interesting as I do.

Next week I should have a new podcast up, so stay tuned.

The Deuce Project Podcast 1st Edition: Word to Yo Mothra!

I have finally figured out a way to get a decent mp3 recording of the radio show out on the web. Below are links for the 8-8-07 broadcast. The show is in two parts. I will probably do a bit more editing for web releases (cutting out some of the irrelevant "local updates" etc...) for future podcasts, but for now, enjoy!
